Credentialing is the act of registering and contracting a Physician/Provider with an insurance company to provide services with that insurance company.

Why is Credentialing important to a physician?

  • Registering and contracting with insurance companies allows a physician to see a broader patient spectrum.
  • The more insurance you contract with, the more patients you are able to provide services to.

Credentialing requires an understanding of medical and administrative terminology and the ability to keep organized files/information on the physicians that include but is not limited to:

  • Personal Demographic information
  • Medical License
  • Other Certificates (DEA, Board Certifications, BLS/ACLS)
  • Educational History
  • Hospital Affiliations
  • Past employment and confidential legal information
